My name is Ash Khan, and I am running for County Council in District 4. I am a long-time resident of Laurel, Maryland. In 2020, I decided that the best place to raise children would be in Anne Arundel County.

I grew up as a brother of three in Prince George’s County. I have earned a bachelor’s in Political Science from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, and an MBA from American University. While in college, I worked 2-4 jobs at one time to help pay down college and support my family.

Ever since I was 12 years old, I have had a keen interest in volunteering. My first volunteering experience was at a nursing home in Laurel, Maryland. I learned a great deal from washing dishes, talking to my elders, and most importantly, spending time giving back. Volunteering helped me to build my character, develop an understanding of who I am, and discover the beauty of the community around me.

Over the years, I have organized road clean ups, feeding the homeless, blood drives, and organizing multiple youth camps. I racked up more than 1,000 hours a year in community service.

In 2020, after the nation shut down during the pandemic, I helped create a hotline to help community members receive their groceries, medicine, and essential everyday needs. We received countless calls from people of various ages, with members concerned if they would receive goods for their children, medicine for their diabetes, and as well as other essential supplies. We quickly gathered over 200 volunteers from all over the nation to help make phone calls, pick up food/medicine, and market our help.

In addition to my day job, I served as the secretary for Democratic Central Committee for Prince George County and chaired the Rotary Youth Leadership Academy.

I live in Laurel with my wife and one son.
